Verbal Consent for SMS Communications
By providing verbal consent to your treatment center counselor, you agree to receive text messages from NotifiUs on behalf of your treatment center for substance use disorder treatment support.
Key Terms of Your Verbal Consent Agreement:
- Consent is obtained verbally by licensed treatment center staff during your appointment
- Your consent is documented in your treatment record with date, time, and staff member signature
- Your verbal consent has the same legal effect as written consent for SMS communications
- Consent is not required as a condition of receiving treatment at your treatment center
- You may withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the quality or availability of your treatment
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Your verbal consent is immediately recorded in your official treatment record
- Documentation includes your phone number, consent date/time, and authorizing staff member
- Records are maintained according to federal healthcare documentation requirements
- You may request copies of your consent documentation at any time
Message Frequency and Content (Exact Message Frequency and Content Vary by Wellness Plan/Patient)
Message Frequency:
- Active Treatment Phase: Up to 8 messages per day during intensive treatment periods
- Maintenance Phase: 1-3 messages per day for ongoing recovery support
- Crisis Situations: Additional messages may be sent as medically necessary for your safety
- Customizable: Your counselor can adjust frequency based on your individual treatment needs
Types of Message Content May Include:
- Treatment task reminders (medication, appointments, wellness activities)
- Daily emotional state check-ins and progress monitoring
- Intervention and requested support communications
- Motivational messages and recovery milestone celebrations
- Communication facilitation between you and your care team
- Educational content about recovery and wellness strategies
Message Timing:
- Standard messages sent between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM in your local time zone
- You may request modified timing preferences through your counselor
- Holiday and weekend messaging continues unless you request otherwise
Content Personalization:
- All messages are customized with your name and specific treatment plan details
- Content is based on your individual recovery goals and current treatment phase
- Messages reflect your counselor’s specific instructions and treatment protocols
- Responses are tailored based on your previous interactions and progress
Wireless Carrier Charges and Compatibility
Carrier Charges:
- Standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply to each SMS sent and received
- NotifiUs does not charge any fees for SMS treatment support services
- Contact your mobile carrier for specific information about your text messaging plan costs
- Consider unlimited text messaging plans if you’re concerned about carrier charges
Carrier Compatibility:
- Service is available on all major US wireless carriers including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint
- Compatible with most regional and prepaid wireless carriers
- Works with both smartphones and basic phones that support SMS text messaging
- International carriers may have limited compatibility – contact support for verification
Technical Requirements:
- Mobile phone must be capable of receiving and sending SMS text messages
- Phone number must be a US-based mobile number (landlines not supported)
- Phone must be active and in service to receive treatment communications
- You are responsible for maintaining active wireless service during your treatment period
Opting Out of SMS Communications
You can stop receiving SMS treatment messages at any time using any of these methods:
Text STOP Method:
- Reply STOP to NotifiUs SMS Messages to Opt-out of future messages
- Opt-out is processed with communications through treatment center
- You’ll receive a confirmation message confirming your opt-out
- This method is available 24/7, including weekends and holidays
Treatment Center Contact:
- Contact your counselor, therapist, or any treatment center staff member
- Staff can initiate the process to remove you from the SMS system
- Request can be made by phone, in person, or through other communication methods
- Staff will document your opt-out request in your treatment record
Opt-Out Confirmation:
- All opt-out requests receive confirmation
- Your treatment center is coordinated to review and manage your opt-out
- Opt-out preference is permanently recorded to prevent future unwanted messages
- You can restart SMS service anytime by giving new verbal consent to your counselor

Service Availability and Limitations
Service Availability:
- SMS treatment support is available 24/7 for message delivery and opt-out processing
- Customer support available during specified business hours
- Service may be temporarily interrupted for maintenance or technical issues
- You will be notified in advance of any planned service interruptions
Service Limitations:
- Service is designed for treatment support communication only, not for emergency situations
- For immediate crisis support, contact your treatment center’s crisis line or call 911
- Message delivery depends on your wireless carrier’s network availability
- NotifiUs cannot guarantee message delivery in all circumstances due to carrier limitations
Technical Limitations:
- Message length limited to standard SMS character limits (may require multiple messages for longer content)
- Emoji and special character support depends on your phone’s capabilities
- Image or multimedia messages are not currently supported
- Service requires active mobile phone service and SMS capability
